On Friday 3 July, 115 brave fundraisers embarked on a marathon Boost Thames Bridges walk starting at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust in West London.

The route totalled approximately 20 miles and incorporated 20 Thames bridge crossings between Kew Bridge and Tower Bridge, as well as a lunchtime boat trip from Battersea Power Station to London Bridge.

The walkers were welcomed at the start by Lee Doyle (founder and chief executive of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust), who spoke about the outstanding works being provided by the Trust in West London and showed us inside the Gtech Community stadium.

We were also treated to a lunchtime talk from Adam Benjamin, who has put together a 4-man crew to row the Atlantic next January. Adam is partially sighted, and Boost is funding the adaptation of the team’s boat and the specialist training required to accommodate Adam’s disability. Best of luck to Adam and his fellow crew members!

A huge thanks to all the walkers and their sponsors. We are delighted to confirm that the event raised over £35,000 for Boost Charitable Trust, which will go directly towards Boost’s funded sports programmes for the disadvantaged and disabled.
