2024 St Bride's vs Boost Charitable Trust Golf Day

Last month marked the 9th edition of the annual St Bride’s vs Boost Charitable Trust golf day, this time in new surroundings at Effingham Golf Club. Once again, the rain stayed away, and St Bride’s successfully won back the ‘Sam Sananes Trophy’ with a resounding 18 ½ - 11 ½ victory, thereby taking a 5 - 4 lead in the series. We’d like to extend our thanks to Effingham Golf Club for their hospitality and to everyone who came and made the day so enjoyable.

The event once again provided more vital support for Boost, who in the last financial year awarded 52 grants to different charitable sports programmes, amounting to over £204,000.

We already look forward to next October when Boost will no doubt be aiming to level the series.

Boost Charity Walk 2024

This Friday (21st June), St Bride’s Managers will be attempting to complete, along with 60 other walkers, The Boost Historic Sports Venues Marathon Walk 2024. This is a challenging circular 26.2 miles walk starting and finishing at Rosslyn Park Rugby Club in Barnes, with stops at a number of interesting historic sports venues, including Hampton Court Real Tennis, Richmond Bridge Boat Builders and Kew Cricket Club.

Boost Charitable Trust is a grant-giving sports charity and was set up in 2005. Its mission is to fund and support inspiring programmes which help to improve the lives of the disadvantaged and disabled through the power of sport.  Current programmes include an adaptive surf programme in South Shields helping people with disabilities to get out on the waves; a street running programme for the homeless in London, Leeds and Manchester; a tennis programme at three schools in Oxfordshire for children with special needs; and accessible cricket sessions for people with Parkinson’s in Newcastle. Since inception, Boost has been involved with over 70 different types of sport and total grants have exceeded £2.5 million. The focus is on helping people in five main areas: physical and learning disabilities, financial hardship, mental health, social exclusion, and medical research and relief.

If you would like to sponsor us, please visit https://donate.giveasyoulive.com/fundraising/the-boost-historic-sports-venues-marathon-walk-2024

All the money received by Boost will go directly to the charitable sports programmes, enabling them to support many more inspiring programmes.

We are very much looking forward to what will hopefully be another fantastic day.

2023 St Bride's vs Boost Charitable Trust Golf Day

Thursday 5th October marked the 8th edition of the annual St Bride’s vs Boost Charitable Trust golf day at Burhill Golf Club. Once again, the day was a resounding success with the weather playing ball and Boost ended up retaining the ‘Sam Sananes Trophy’ with a comprehensive 16 ½ - 13 ½ victory. We’d like to extend our thanks to Burhill Golf Club for their hospitality and everyone who came and made the day so enjoyable.

The day raised yet more vital funds for Boost, a grant-giving charity with a mission to provide impactful funding and support for inspiring programmes which help improve the lives of the disadvantaged and disabled through the power of sport.

We look forward to next year when hopefully St Bride’s can regain the trophy and avoid a Boost ‘Three-peat’!
